    Happy Thanksgiving
Today I went and celebrated Thanksgiving with family and friends. I ate 2 pounds of food, mmmmm! Yesterday my brother drove me down and I got to spend time with Katherine and Brian who I haven't seen in so long. Pennie was happy I am visiting and I am SO happy to have a break from school, finally my classes are not crazy. They will be soon though...

Yesterday Katherine and I tried to buy a pair of jeans, what a frusterating task! All the jeans are either too expensive, too low cut, too light, too long, or all three. Oh and I fit anything from a size 4 to a size 7 depending on the brand. Why do people design girls clothes in such illogical ways? Or am I the only girl bothered by this? I mean why can't they just size womens jeans like they do for men? I know it is supposed to be so that girls feel they are smaller if they are size 5 instead of 30 inches or something. I say just get rid of this! AND get rid of having different shoe sizes for girls and boys, grrrr this is why I can't shop like a normal consumer, oh yeah and I am cheap.

So last week was great! I saw Harry Potter opening night at Mann's Chinese Theatre. I loved it, especially because Jarvis Cocker is in it! Even though a lot was left out I think the movie did a decent job of adapting the book, but would recommend you read it anyway.

Last Saturday we went dancing at Tempest to hear Mira and Reuben from Ladytron dj. We actually got to meet them too, which was great! Diana was so star struck it was adorable!

In other news, Diana and I won't be on air this week due to Thanksgiving holidays. Peter and I have been together for 3 months now, (wow that went by fast)! The semester is almost over I can't wait for holidays!

Anyone else up at this hour?
Hopefully it is for a better reason than me. So today I had class from 10-11, wrote an essay from 11-2 went to class for a hour then spent the next 14 hours with a 2hr dinner break on my analysis midterm (that's 12hours on this take home midterm - believe me I am NOT exaggerating)!!! Now I am going to finish the essay, wake up early dash to print it and prepare for tomorrow.

Things I have to do tomorrow:
    9-12am
    3classes
    hand in a midterm
    hand in an essay

    12-2
study for a quiz I have on Thursday morning
do a review of two presentations

    2-5pm work

    7-11pm cinema class

and all of this on less than 4 hours of sleep - is this even posible?

Moral of the story: NEVER take Analysis (Math 425) unless you absolutely can not avoid it.

    Do they know it's Halloween?
Our teachers that is. What's the deal with having 2 midterms, a presentation and an essay to worry aobut over Halloween weekend? LAME I say.

So for Halloween I dressed up as Left-Eye Lopes and had lots of fun acting very much not like myself. I am sure you have seen the pictures on facebook. I think Sarah Hamblin [info]dayglo takes the cake for craziest costume ever (that's right she was Holly Ashcraft).

Diana and I also did a fun filled spooky Halloween radio show, and went dancing with Peter [info]doky (who dressed as David Bowie) and Aaron.

All in all a good weekend, too bad this week is really stressful. But next week at this time I can breathe again...

    In and Out Coincidence
Diana just gave me loads of her pictures. We discovered that I took a picture of Peter and she took a picture of Aaron at different times unaware of the other's actions and this resulted:

homework ruins weekends, scratch that, homework ruins lives
So yesterday after doing our show Diana and I were walking home and came across a blank stage and where like, what is going on here? We found out that Fountains of Wayne would play there in like 5 minutes. It was really fun we saw them for free and for a few minutes there were only about 10 people watching with us. It was for some marathon called Run Hit Wonder or something like that. It is fun to live in a big city where random (especially free) stuff just pops up. Pictures )
Other than that I have been being very lazy and still haven't started homework of course. My Analysis class is being a pain right now. Sometimes I wonder if teachers realize how much work/stress/sleepless nights they are giving their students. Last night I even had dreams about solving my Analysis problems, crazy. Too bad I didn't actually solve the problems, because sometimes I do.

sometimes when things disappear I think they cease to exist
Today at work we had to rush mail out before 5:00, so Phil, Asha and I dashed to commons in a locked up USC cart and barely made it in time. Then just for kicks we drove backwards the whole way back to Gero, good thing DPS didn't see, hee hee. I got that same fun feeling so present when breaking the rules in high school. It's rare to feel like that now, I mean you can get away with so much in college and no one will care.

In other news, I am really burned out with school, I've lost so much ambition, hopefully I can keep enough interest not to let my grades fall too low.

Since my last update I saw The Decemberists, and if you ever have a chance to see them, DO IT, the show was amazing!

Also spent way too much time making this. )

I am so happy it is Friday even if my analysis class is giving me a take home midterm to do grrrr. I need a break. badly. or maybe just sleep...

    Oasis rocked what a surprise!
So I do love Oasis' music and thought it would be good to see them in concert. Peter and I also thought since Oasis are usually such jerks I would go wearing a blur shirt, and he would wear a blur pin.

We had a bit of a fiasco since Aaron couldn't come and Maurice dropped out an hour before we were supposed to go (and they both were the only ones with cars). Luckily Sara helped us a bunch and gave us a ride there and back, we love Sara!

On the way we listened to pop music and it was quite fun. We admitted to liking it too, go us. Then Meghan stayed with me to wait for Azad and his friend to buy the extra tickets. They gave us wine and some random guy gave us really good beer, so we were slightly tipsy for Jet which worked out great (Meghan:"I don't like this song" me:"It's no 'Toxic'")

Then OASIS PLAYED AN AMAZING SHOW! They played nearly every song I wanted to hear . Including 'Wonderwall' and 'Champagne Supernova' (of course), 'Live Forever,'(dedicated to New Orleans) 'Cigarettes and Alcohol' AND "DON'T LOOK BACK IN ANGER"! My favorite, and they dedicated it to everyone from Mexico! They also covered The Who's 'My Generation' and had a sound clip from The Smith's Rubber Ring (You are sleeping You do not want to believe)!
All in all it was amazing! Oasis are not jerks in my mind anymore, now I feel a little bad about the blur shirt, oh well.

    Quick summary of last weekend:
Giving away The Decemberists tickets was a bit crazy, but worked out in the end. Also, our show went really well. Saturday night was so much fun! We got in free to this loft party/club/show that was SO much fun. They played all sorts of good mod, soul, brit pop, punk 80's etc, the live bands were great AND we meet our counterparts in other schools (people from Loyola who play kickball every week and work at the radio station on campus, crazy!).

Labor Day weekend and being very lazylike
Well somehow I managed to have three days off and not do any homework, at all. Stupid me and waiting until the last minute. So you'd think with all that time I would have been productive, well not exactly. I blame being sick. I did go to Razzmatazz with Peter, Diana, Arron, Garen and Remy well all danced up a storm, and saw a cute Japanese band. Also saw some great performances at rock the monologue, and had a good radio show with Diana. Other than that I have been trying to sleep enough to get better. Can't believe we have to go back to school tomorrow grrr..

Ahhhh where did my summer go?!
Being in England had the minor effect of shortening my summer by more than a month and so I am already back in class!
The end of summer was super fun, went dancing at Bang and Velvet (where I danced with a girl stranger for the first time, she was just as foward and flirty as the boys are, it was fun though). Also went to the beach, and didn't get sunburned - yessss!

So as you probably heard Peter ([info]doky) and I are official, so this is pretty exciting! We have been spending lots of time together, which is wonderful, I fear classes will soon steal this time away.

Speaking of classes, I am wrestling with registration and degree progress, why do they make it so complicated? It's really frusterating, but I am sure you all have been through that.

Also, I got a promotion and a huge raise, so I am very happy about that, too bad I don't have as much time to work anymore, grrr.

so unfortunately I am a wee bit sick, but on the plus side it makes sitting around the warm apartment not too bad.

Last night I went to a free concert at Underground for a band called 35mm, they were electronic and I have decided I can totally play the cowbell for Diana's revenge band.

On Thursday Diana, Meghan and Peter were guests on my radio show, which was super fun because we had a dance party at the studio and shared amazing music.

Also went to Ben's for a BBQ and got to try Meghan's skateboard, it's so nice I am jealous!

I watched Velvet Goldmine and now I want to be glam rock, but am afraid people will just think I am weird, or a gay man...

Anyway maybe I should update more often... eh oh well. Also as you probably know I am on myspace(that amusing little website that just sold for $580 MILLON dollars, crazy).

off to have adventures with Iciar now...

    Kalisa news
Last night was so much fun. We did nothing in particular but it reminded me of how high school was actually fun sometimes, even if I didn't go many significant places. Meghan summarized it pretty well.

I still have a bright red sunburn from going to the beach for about 2.5 hours with Peter on Sunday (I wore 48 SPF sunscreen too grr), I think it was worth it though. Must go to the beach again soon...

Saturday was pretty hectic I spent the day trying to keep track of, talk to, and plan a surprise birthday party for Aaron. Darn that Aaron is so unpredictable, he ended up finding out about 5 minutes too soon, but it was fun giving him cake and singing anyway. After that Aaron, Peter, Cleo, Brit and I went dancing at Bang! I had fun but am annoyed with the crowd, the flyers that make you think it is $5 entry but it is actually only $5 off, the charging for water etc. Oh well.

BUT UNDERGROUND on Friday reminded me that there are amazing clubs in LA. I got there and was pleasantly surprised when they had free magazines, buttons, stickers, magnets and 10 different kinds of CDs. So of course we took advantage of that, and had to run to the car to drop off all the stuff. Then they played almost all britpop (including a Pulp b-side from 1994) and I was so ecstatic! All in all the night was wonderful.

That's my news for now, more sure to come...

    TINC show
Last night I went to see The International Noise Conspiracy and it was AMAZING! It was at a place called "The Poison Apple" in the middle of south central. It was the smallest venue I have ever been to (probably 30ft by 30ft) and SO hot in there! I was surprised that a band that has played coachella and will be at street scene this weekend could play such a small place. Not many people were let in, I am guessing around 90 or 100, which was probably a good idea considering how humid it got. And all of this for only $5, crazy! Now I am super sleepy from jumping around too much last night..

    the Wit

    (65% dark, 34% spontaneous, 16% vulgar)

    your humor style:
    CLEAN | COMPLEX | DARK

You like things edgy, subtle, and smart. I guess that means you're probably an intellectual, but don't take that to mean you're pretentious. You realize 'dumb' can be witty--after all isn't that the Simpsons' philosophy?--but rudeness for its own sake, 'gross-out' humor and most other things found in a fraternity leave you totally flat.

I guess you just have a more cerebral approach than most. You have the perfect mindset for a joke writer or staff writer. Your sense of humor takes the most effort to appreciate, but it's also the best, in my opinion.

Also, you probably loved the Office. If you don't know what I'm talking about, check it out here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/comedy/theoffice/.

    Dance Dance Dance!
Last night I went with Sara, Sarah and Peter to Robbie's "dress not in clothes party" it was so cute to see everyone wearing crazy stuff like wrapping paper, balloons, duct tape, a twister mat, scarfs and sheets. Such a cute party theme. I just moved in so didn't have anything to wear and Peter and I felt totally overdressed in regular clothes and a bowl for a hat. So we left kinda early.
After that we went to Underground I really love that club. The best part was when they played "Death II" by Pulp! Possibly my favorite Pulp song and I have never heard it played in a club before! So Peter will testify that I went really crazy with happiness. I also got to see Liz and Bridget for the first time in 6 months or so. I ran into Lenny and his new girl and it was good to catch up with him again. Well that's all my news for now, back to having a lazy Saturday afternoon...

Too much to tell but I'll try to remember it all...
Well on the 24th of June Diana and I went to the Wireless Festival
in Hyde Park, England. We saw (in order) The Dresden Dolls,
Performande, RILO KILEY, GRAHAM COXON, The Boxer Rebellion, Hard-
Fi, Fischerspooner, Tegan and Sarah, Moby, The Dears, and NEW
ORDER! It was an amazing show! It was really warm in the
beginning, but ended up pouring rain which was refreshing I
thought. My favorite parts where when Graham Coxon played Freakin'
Out and when New Oder did Blue Monday. I am going to put up photos on my
website hopefully soon. Diana spent the rest of the weekend with me in Brighton and I finally saw the inside of the Royal Pavillion, which was
extreamely gaudy. We went dancing at two of the indie clubs in
Brighton. It was sad because most of the students were gone so the
    clubs were not as full.

On Sunday (June 26) night I said goodbye to Kingsley, Nadia, and Natalia, I
am going to miss them :( Then in the morning I packed up all my
stuff in the room and took a train to Bournemouth to visit Ben and
Glenn. I was only there about 2 days but had fun playing hearts
and taking videos of Glenn singing (much to his annoyance). I am
going to miss everyone in England so much, but am still very happy
    we had time together.

The plane ride back went really well. I spent a few days in
Huntington Beach with Charles, Iggy and Iciar. Last Friday I threw
a small party for my friends in La to come visit. It was wonderful
to see everyone again, and I am looking forward to the crazy
parties we will have next year now that most of our neighboors are
    our allies hee hee.

On Saturday I drove to Las Vegas with Peter, Meghan and Maurice, to
see Weezer and Red Hot Chili Peppers, for free! We caught the very
end of Weezer and were sad we didn't make it earlier, but the rest
of the show was good. Other highlights of the trip include my 50+
picture photoshot shoot by Meghan, getting a guy to show us his
boobs and taking pictures of ugly people, hey it's Las Vegas we are
allowed to be shallow. For a summary with pictures go here

After Vegas I went to Huntington Beach with Peter and Iciar for 4th of July and ended up going to random parties and watching fireworks on top of a steep church we climbed on top of which was super scary.

Meghan took me to this amazing poetry slam at the poetry lounge. I wish I had a way with words the way those people do, oh man it was brillant.

So I am still working on moving back to L.A. and came back to my job a Gerontology on campus and things seem to be getting back to pre-England times...

Yesterday was the longest day of my life...
I had to wake up at 8:00 am to take my hardest final and all I was thinking was' "man if I was in CA right now it would be 12 midnight and I would have just turned 21" but instead I am forcing myself to take a test.

My birthday was GREAT though! So why did I say it was the longest day of my life? Well, as you see I was born on the summer solstice which means the daylight lasts longer yesterday than any other day of the year. The reason that yesterday (as opposed to any other June 21st) was the longest day is because I am the furthest North I have ever been here in England, and the further North you are on the globe, the longer the days are in the summer. (and you thought I was gonna write a boring message about a really long frustrating day :)

So after the test (which was much easier than I thought) I went out for a birthday dinner with Glenn, Ben, Erin, Christina, Anna, James, Kingsley, Justin and Lindsay, then we all went on the beach and took silly pictures. Then headed over to Karaoke. I got three songs sung to me, meet up with a bunch more friends and secretly explored the hidden upstairs and back rooms of the King and Queen pub. I wasn't planning on it but ended up going to the Glouster and dancing like crazy with Glenn and his friends. I didn't get back until almost 4 am but still got up and aced my final this morning!

I am getting ready for Diana to visit and go see New Order, Graham Coxon, Rilo Kiley, The Dears & more on Friday!
